RAIN or SHINE! No need to bring anything but an open mind :)
Dress comfortably, prepare for a light walk and be ready to learn, practice & explore! Journal, forest bathe, meditate… which will work best for you? Stay curious!
Forest Bathing as defined by Psychology Today The Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries coined the term shinrin-yoku or forest-bathing in 1982. Bathing in the forest, however, has nothing to do with water. The idea is to immerse yourself in a natural environment and soak up the many health benefits of being in the green woods. Forest bathing has been widely researched. One Japanese study that appeared in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health examined 585 participants and found that urban dwellers are under a constant siege of stressors. Living in these conditions can leave people with increased physical and mental problems including depression, anxiety, and in some cases psychosis. Please join us if you are interested in trying this new practice.
Broken Bowls is a practice that showcases resilience and the concept that we may find strength and beauty, even when “broken”. Kintsugi, also known as kintsukuroi, is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with gold, silver, or platinum. It's a method that emphasizes the breaks and repairs, rather than hiding them, embracing the imperfections as part of the object's history and beauty. “Do not fear breaking, find strength within and with others when you do. Life's cracks need to be seen and the triumph of mending needs to be celebrated. Embrace the comfort in that we are all More Beautiful for Being Broken™.”
Join as Lisa leads us through a process of breaking bowls, gluing them back together, painting and accentuating the cracks; learning a creative way to express and accept life’s challenges. (hammer provided!)
